Walk for a cause - any cause...

It started out to be a lovely morning.
.
I actually got up early and went to first Mass on Sunday morning again. I like that very much. At the early Mass the clothing police aren't up yet, so I can get by with my jeans and double t-shirt look that impresses so many of the guys at the Vet's Home.
.
So anyway, I'm driving through the park district (Minnehaha Parkway) and sure enough there is another damn walk for something going on. Masses of people walking for I don't know what. With spring and summer upon us, people are always holding these walk-things, and they badger other people to give them money for it. Walk for diabetes, walk for alcoholics, walk for breast enlargements, walk for bladder control, walk for condoms, walk for obedience schools for pets, walk for HDTV, walk for this cause or that cause. Go ahead - walk - but don't ask me for money.

.

And stop blocking off thoroughfares. Walker-people are so pesky.

Stuff I did not know.

At least I thought I didn't.
.
The Tea Party thing - no one invited me. I just heard about it this evening.
.
I knew of course that Janet Napolitano and Homeland Security was fingering us for terrorists - imagine her playing the race card to support her claims - citing a black president. She's just trying to start trouble. Homeland Security probably doesn't play by the rules either - I bet they can do lots of stuff other law enforcement can't.
.
I do not know who Susan Boyle is - but from the looks of her, I'd say she is Irish descent.

Internet withdrawal.

I am in deep trouble...
.
Hi! I'm at Kinko's, in disguise. Well not really, but I have a knit hat on, dark glasses and a high turtle neck type of neck warmer to cover my moustache. I know! It is hot. No one is near me. But listen...
.
I brought my lap top in for diagnosis - the IT guy got the flu - he hasn't been able to work on it! This is like the 3rd day now - I have no Internet access at home. I do not know if this is a government plot or what - I'm suspecting it is some sort of conspiracy.
.
I have no access to the outside world - which is why I sneaked over here. Sure I can call people on the phone - but it's a landline - and how the hell can you carry on a conversation with someone without a key board?
.
Television is awful - no pop-up blockers for unwanted ads! I only have access to network news - no Drudge! Network news is biased and limited and you get only the news they want you to get.
.
I don't even know what Fr. Zuhlsdorf had for supper last night!
.
It is horrible - I was forced to watch The View, hoping for some type of news I guess - or maybe just to feel like I was watching something on my monitor. OH MY Gosh! But those women are really biased and superficial and just plain dumb. I think Joy Behar is senile - I love Whoopi but the other bitches do not let her talk. Condolezza Rice was on today and they asked her really stupid questions. Television is stupid! One has no control except the remote which leads you to even stupider programming. Television is nothing but advertisements for menopause medications and cleaning supplies.
.
Okay. I'm running out of time. I just wanted to let everyone know what has happened to me. I'm okay - I have anti-anxiety meds - withdrawal is intense, but I should make it. I don't know when I'll be back - I don't know when the PC will be fixed. I'm in limbo till then. The not knowing is the worst.
.
Is Fr. Z okay? Are the gifts still coming in? Is he eating? Does he have enough wine - moreover - is it good enough wine?
.
Pray for me. I'm beside myself. I don't know what to do with myself. I thought of cleaning the house but if the vacuum is going I may not hear the phone and it could be Techs To Go calling about the repair.
.
Okay - deep breath. I'll be back soon I hope. I hope!

For some reason?

I hope I'm not being paranoid...

For some reason, I think I may have lost most of my gay readers. (If you don't want people to think you are gay, you better start leaving comments!)

On a lighter note...

Woman arrested for calling police 7,177 times.
.
Police arrested a woman for making more than 7,000 emergency telephone calls because an officer did not take her initial complaint seriously, a police spokesman said Wednesday.
.
The 38-year-old was arrested on Tuesday on charges of obstructing police work, a police spokesman said.

.
She made 7,177 calls during the day or night between September 14 and October 13 this year, sometimes shouting "drop dead" at police, he said.

If my mother wasn't dead, I would have thought this story was about her.

Dance wit' me!

When I was in High School girls danced together and held hands and stuff... nobody thought anything of it.

Pride weekend.

And hetero-phobia.
.
I just want hetero-phobes to note I did not post any queer stuff this weekend - just because I am nice and you don't like it when I do anyway.

OH! MY!! GOSH!!!

MADONNA IS GETTING DIVORCED!!!!!!!!!!!!!

.

Honey - this just doesn't happen in Italian Catholic families!

.

The world is definitely coming to an end!

.

What is she thinking?

.

I'm killing myself!

.

You know what it is don't you? Those damn Brits - they NEVER accepted her! EVER! They are hateful.
.
She is such a nice girl too.

Just a few words from our sponsor.

Me.
.
Facebook is too much. "Much too much" as Maggie Smith would say. People are getting emails from my site asking if they will be my friend. First of all, I never ask people to be my friend - or chase them down. Secondly, I haven't ever sent out an email like that - well maybe to Cathy in the beginning - but she knows I'm nuts. I think they have bots or something that read my address book and automatically send invites out. Don't get me wrong - I like having lots of friends - but I can't respond to all of this email stuff, I'm getting over 100 emails a day - from the blogs and Facebook, along with personal stuff. I don't even answer my phone or the door at home - really - I never even pick up my phone messages. I know! - I'm just weird like that. That's all.
.
On a lighter note, some advice for people who suffer from chronic pain.

.
I think I'm on to something here. If you don't have medical insurance or you are poor, or you just don't want to go to the Doctor but experience chronic pain, I have some remedies.
.

1) Learn to love it. Accept it, offer it up and all of that, but thank God for it - seriously - thank him you can suffer something for him and for souls. I'm not kidding - it becomes so bearable that way - well not always - but often.

.

2) Frequently at night I allow myself to think about it - I imagine I'm on pain killers, but awake, undergoing surgery. I imagine the doctor inserting a huge needle, say into my kidneys, to drain cysts, and I watch the tube fill up with a watery, bloody, liquid. It seems to me the pain then goes away. Well, not always - but I distract myself with watching the surgical procedure - I imagine little flecks in the drainage as well.

.

3) I do the same thing with arthritis pain - I imagine the doctor poking me with painful needles in all of my joints, while he injects cortisone. The pain of the needles allows me to forget the other pain and to focus upon the relief the cortisone would cause. The pain is still there, but it doesn't hurt as much as those pretend needles.

.

4) Chest pains and breathing difficulties. The best thing here is to offer it up, recall how much you enjoyed smoking, and tell yourself how much worse they would be if you still smoked. When that fails, I try to pretend I'm on narcotics - but I can never duplicate that euphoria!

.

5) Frequent awakenings during the night due to male problems... I look on these things as opportunities to pray during the night... and the pain as a good penance. But I'm always so tired the next day.

.

6) If all of these remedies fail, I remind myself to pray for a happy death.

.

Look for future "advice and how to" posts. I'm thinking the next one will be, "How to stretch your food budget during a recession, huge inflation, and food shortages."

[I'll be offline because I'm in California for a wedding. OH! C'MON! I'M JUST KIDDING!!! I needed an excuse to use the photo.]

Crazy Friday!

I just want to do something outrageous - like a crazy, provocative post - something off the wall, something to get people stirred up. I'm so tired of posting my bland, ordinary, boring material. Maybe I'll write about the gays.

I had visitors today.

Yes I did.

.

My (es)strange(d) son (Little Freak) and his wife and daughter. Yes. I let them come into the back yard. Yes, we sat under the umbrella and visited; we laughed and talked. It was quite nice and rather normal - they were not at all afraid. Then I asked them to leave.

Memorial Day weekend.

In the US this is a long holiday weekend.
.
Few people will be online since most people seem to surf the Internet only at work. (How do some people keep their job? Or accept a pay-check in good conscience?) Anyway - I'll still be posting on all my blogs. I'll have extra juicy, tasty and nasty stuff, so if you are online, you will be entertained. (I'll take it all down by Tuesday when people get back to work.)

Funny bit on local news.

Don't tell this lady what is sinful.

A reporter asked a Catholic woman outside of her parish church what she thought of the so-called "new seven deadly sins" the Vatican came out with this week. With a hint of exasperation, she answered, "You would think with all that is going on in the world they would have better things to worry about. How about inclusiveness..." I can't remember what else she said, if anything, but I got the impression she watches a lot of Oprah shows.

The "new" seven deadlies:

"Genetic modification, carrying out experiments on humans, polluting the environment, causing social injustice, causing poverty, becoming obscenely wealthy and taking drugs are all mortal sins." - News report.

Beverly Sutphin was a good Catholic.

Recycle or go to hell.

Serial Mom, despite her faults, always said her prayers, went to church, and most importantly, she recycled. News today is that the Vatican has come out with "new sins", among them, not recycling. Full story here. (Truly, there are no "new" sins, although new developments in technology and science may warrant pointing out practices that are sinful in application or omission, things some people wouldn't otherwise think about.)
The "new" deadly sins are: "Genetic modification, carrying out experiments on humans, polluting the environment, causing social injustice, causing poverty, becoming obscenely wealthy and taking drugs are all mortal sins."
Thus, I suppose one might say, "not recycling" is a sin because it leads to "polluting the environment" or something. I would love to have to confess "becoming obscenely wealthy," especially if I couldn't help it - although if it was against my will, it wouldn't be a mortal sin. I just threw out all of my prescriptions now that "taking drugs" is a mortal sin. (I should be dead in a week. LOL!)
I'm thinking not wearing a seat belt is already a sin - but I'm not sure about white after Labor Day - The Pope wears it all year long you know.
(Photo - "Serial Mom" - Scene where Beverly Sutphin murders Patti Hearst's character for wearing white after Labor Day. Beverly really was a good girl, wasn't she. Her heart was in the right place when she murdered.)
