Francesco!

Francesco! (Recall his mother calling him in "Brother Sun, Sister Moon"?)

The blessed feast of Our Holy Father St. Francis of Assisi.

Father,
you helped St. Francis to reflect the image of Christ through a life of poverty and humility.
May we follow your Son
by walking in the footsteps of Our Holy Father
St. Francis of Assisi,
and by imitating his joyful love.
Grant this through our Lord Jesus Christ, Your Son
who lives and reigns forever. Amen.

He was so humble, when Brother Masseo tested him by asking why the whole world followed him, Francis answered, after moments in prayer, with joy and fervent love he proclaimed;

"You really want to know why everyone is running after me? I have this from the all-holy eyes of God that see the good and the evil everywhere. For those blessed and all-holy eyes have not seen among sinners anyone more vile or insufficient than I am..." -The Little Flowers of St. Francis.

Humility is truth, St. Francis knew himself well.

Pray for us sinners, holy Father St. Francis, now and at the hour of our death. Amen.

(No more blogging for his feast day.)
